Since 1973, the Nordic Gerontological Congress (NKG) has gathered a Nordic, European and even global community for exchanging and exploring new knowledge and insights on ageing. The congresses evolve around the five scientific pillars of the Nordic Gerontological Federation:

• Biological and Medical Sciences
• Health Sciences
• Behavioural and Social Sciences
• Humanities
• Social Research, Policy, and Practice.

The congresses are arranged biannually with a rotating schedule between the Nordic countries. In 2027, the 28NKG will take place in Jyväskylä, Finland, with the theme Ageing in the Current Light.

The 28NKG is organised under lead of the three Finnish member organisations, Societas Gerontologica Fennica, the Finnish Geriatricians Society, and the Finnish Society for Growth and Ageing Research.
